It’s a fact of life: People with strong people skills enjoy an advantage over those lacking the ability to interact well with others. We are surrounded by people. Whether it’s in our personal or professional life, other people impact our lives in countless ways. But just having good people skills is not enough as those benefits are short-term. They improve our immediate interaction with people but it doesn’t give us long-term sustainability.
A Different Set Of Skills
To really enjoy the benefits of relationships, we need to develop a different set of skills in addition to people-skills. These skills focus on deepening and maintaining relationships through the years. Falling into three main categories: The first set of skills is about giving. The second set is about identifying and solving problems that can damage or even kill a relationship. The final category of skills is about the logistics of doing things consistently, even when life gets busy and relationships don’t seem to be a high-priority.
Rockstars
In this course, I’ll share with you what I have learned from people I consider to be rockstars at relationship building and from personal experiences. They apply to both professional & personal relationships, but I’m going to focus my examples and discussion on business situations that apply to companies and people.
Action-Oriented
With the exception of this lesson, each lesson will be action-oriented. The title will clue you into what you’re suppose to do. The contents of the lesson will expand on why and how you should do what is asked. If you don’t plan on taking action, you should stop right now and go do something else. Without action, you’re wasting your time. Try the CALL TO ACTION tasks for the next 90-days and you’ll be surprised by what starts happening.
